Abhilashi University is a private university at Chail Chowk in Mandi district, Himachal Pradesh, established in 2014 under state legislation. The institution grew from the educational work of the Abhilashi Educational Society, which was established on 21 May 2001 and subsequently developed colleges and professional institutes in Himachal Pradesh. The university was created to bring a wider range of these academic activities into a degree-granting multidisciplinary structure. The university’s campus is located at Chail Chowk, Tehsil Chachyot, in a hill environment near Mandi. Academic schools and departments cover Ayurveda, health sciences, agriculture, veterinary sciences, pharmacy, engineering, management, humanities, education and basic sciences, among other areas. This breadth gives Abhilashi University a strong professional-education orientation while also supporting general academic and research programs. Its facilities and teaching model are designed around classroom learning, laboratories, clinical or field exposure where required, and professional training. Abhilashi University is recognized under Sections 2(f) and 22 of the UGC Act, enabling it to award degrees within the approved framework. The university is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities and works with professional regulators relevant to its programs. Its official institutional history states that UGC approval followed within two years of inception. Quality-assurance development culminated in the university receiving a B+ grade from NAAC in its first accreditation cycle in 2022. The university also undertakes community-oriented activity through health camps, blood-donation drives, agricultural awareness, plantation, renewable-energy initiatives, NSS and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan participation. Its evolution since 2014 reflects the transition of an education society with multiple professional institutions into a comprehensive private university. Today Abhilashi University combines multidisciplinary teaching, regulated professional programs, research and regional outreach from its Chail Chowk campus in Mandi district.
