Eternal University is a private university at Baru Sahib in Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh, created within the educational mission of The Kalgidhar Trust. Its institutional story is unusual because the university's origins are linked to a spiritual and educational vision articulated decades before university status. The Baru Sahib project developed through a long sequence beginning with Sant Attar Singh Ji's early twentieth-century educational vision and later carried forward by Sant Teja Singh Ji and Baba Iqbal Singh Ji. The university provides education in agricultural sciences, engineering and technology, basic sciences, health and allied sciences, education, economics, commerce and management, arts and social sciences and related research fields. It has a distinctive women-focused institutional character and presents value-based learning, ethics, service and academic excellence as connected aims. The mountain campus at Baru Sahib provides a residential environment for teaching, research and student development. The Kalgidhar Trust's earlier educational work is central to understanding the university. The trust developed Baru Sahib as an education centre, opened the first Akal Academy there in 1986 and subsequently built a wider network of schools. A formal university foundation ceremony was held in 2006, and Eternal University emerged soon afterward under Himachal Pradesh's statutory framework.
