CAREER POINT UNIVERSITY, HAMIRPUR Summary
Career Point University Hamirpur is a state private university in Himachal Pradesh established in 2012 under Act No. 12 of 2012. The institution forms part of the Career Point education group, whose wider journey began in Kota in 1993. CPU Hamirpur was conceived in response to the gap between urban and rural access to quality higher education and developed its campus in the lower Himalayan setting of Hamirpur district. The university was inaugurated in August 2012 by then Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prof. P. K. Dhumal and became functional in the same year with an initial cohort of 96 students. Its campus covers roughly 30 acres and faces the Dhauladhar range, giving the institution a distinctive rural and mountain environment. CPUH offers diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes across engineering, computer applications, management, commerce, law, pharmacy, sciences and other professional areas. The university is recognized under the UGC framework, is a member of the Association of Indian Universities and has undergone NAAC accreditation. Teaching combines credit-based study with practical exposure, projects, laboratories, skill development and professional preparation. Over time, the university has grown from a small first cohort into a larger academic community that includes doctoral researchers. Its development illustrates the Career Point group's attempt to take a broad university model beyond major cities and into a district-level setting. The university's own institutional history reports nearly two thousand students in its later growth phase, including a substantial group of PhD scholars. That expansion has been accompanied by broader programme offerings, research activity, professional approvals and stronger campus infrastructure. CPU Hamirpur's defining identity combines rural access, Himalayan location, Career Point heritage and multidisciplinary professional education. Its Himalayan setting further reinforces the university’s regional purpose by combining district-level access with residential learning, research and professional programmes in one campus environment.
