The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) is a state private university in Guwahati, Assam, established by the Assam Royal Global University Act, 2013 and operational as a full university from the 2017 academic period. The institution grew from the Royal Group of Institutions created by Gyan Sagar Foundation, which began developing professional education in Guwahati before the university became functional. The Assam legislature enacted the university act in August 2013, creating the legal foundation for a multidisciplinary private university. RGU operates from a large campus in the Guwahati metropolitan region and has developed schools covering engineering, architecture, business, commerce, sciences, humanities, law, design, media, social sciences, healthcare and other professional areas. The university emphasizes research-intensive and industry-oriented education together with innovation, entrepreneurship and community service. Modern classrooms, laboratories, libraries, studios, sports, residences and student facilities support a large multidisciplinary campus community. Its location in Guwahati provides access to the administrative, commercial, cultural, healthcare and technology center of Northeast India.
