Coburg University of Applied Sciences and Arts Summary
Coburg University of Applied Sciences and Arts is a university of applied sciences and arts in the Bavarian towns of Coburg and Kronach. Its origins lie in a civic architecture school founded in 1814, and the modern state university of applied sciences was established in 1971. The story of the institution begins in 1814, when Friedrich Streib established a private school for civil architecture. 1852 – institution became Ducal Building School. Today, the university’s profile is built around architecture, design, engineering, health, social work, computing, business and insurance. The location is important: Campuses in Coburg and activities in Kronach foster close connections with Upper Franconian employers.
This file shows the current study portfolio, with 32 undergraduate and 20 postgraduate entries. Architecture, Building Conservation and Traditional Work Techniques, Civil Engineering – General Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering – Energy Efficient Building Design, Interior Design, Electrical Engineering for Sustainable and Renewable Energy, Mechanical Engineering, Digital Business Models and Technologies are the undergraduate options. Examples at postgraduate level include Monument Conservation, Design, Digital Monument Technologies, Resource-Efficient Planning and Construction, Applied Theatre: Theatre as Social Work and Business Administration, Change Management and Transformation, FutureDesign – Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Design. Because language rules, semester start, academic prerequisites and selection differ, applicants must start with the live program page. Many open admission programs accept winter applications from May 2 through September 30. International applicants must follow the qualification and language route specified for each program. The deadlines for the English bachelor programs are published course-specific. Some international qualifications might require a specific credential-verification route. Applicants for a master’s might be asked for module descriptions so the relevant committee can compare previous study with the degree being applied for. Admission is not the same as enrolment: an admitted applicant still needs to complete the document, health-insurance and payment steps mentioned in the offer. Doctoral study is done through faculty, graduate school or cooperative arrangements and requires an appropriate project and academic supervision.
Winter semester 2026/27: €157.38 all students From summer 2025, non-EU international students admitted to an English-language degree program are generally charged €1,500 per semester, provided that the university’s exemption rules and program rules are followed. Exceptions to the course may be made in specific cases, especially in professional, continuing education, joint or cooperative study. Students should, therefore, budget for costs in addition to the published institutional charge for housing, insurance, learning materials, travel, and any program-specific costs. The funding can be provided through BAföG if you meet the requirements, the Deutschlandstipendium, foundations, mobility grants, project employment or doctoral support. However, every funding has its own application and selection process.
The career preparation is an expression of the university academic profile and not a guarantyd placement system. Career Service counselling, PraxisPLUS, labs, design studios, the CREAPOLIS Makerspace, Formula Student, applied research institutes, and projects with regional industry provide practical experience. Internships, practical projects, research assistantships, employer events, entrepreneurship support, international experience, and early use of career counselling improve students’ outcomes. Coburg suits applicants looking for an applied university with a combination of design, engineering, health, social sciences and business, as well as new bachelor pathways in English in a small Bavarian setting. The best candidates will compare the curriculum, language of teaching, entry rules and location with their own academic background before applying.
