Anhalt University of Applied Sciences Summary
The Anhalt University of Applied Sciences (German: Hochschule Anhalt) is a public university of applied sciences located in Köthen, Dessau and Bernburg, Saxony-Anhalt. Anhalt University of Applied Sciences pools engineering, life science, agriculture, business, architecture, design, media and computing on campuses in Köthen, Dessau and Bernburg. Its institutional development 19th century – technical and agricultural predecessor institutions developed in Anhalt. 1891 - Engineering education was given a firm foundation in Köthen. Today its academic profile is defined by engineering, biotechnology, food science, agriculture, landscape architecture, business, architecture, design, media, computer science and biomedical technology. The location is important because the three-campus model connects Köthen’s technical heritage, Dessau’s Bauhaus and design culture, and Bernburg’s agricultural, economic, and landscape-science profile.
The course portfolio contained in this master file has 25 undergraduate and 25 postgraduate entries, with subject combinations rolled up to parent degrees where appropriate. Examples at the undergraduate level include Agriculture, Architecture, Applied Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Business Administration. Later entries include Industrial Engineering, International Business, Design. Postgraduate study in Architecture – Dessau International Architecture, Architectural and Cultural Heritage, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Business Administration, Computer Science to International Business, Digital Media, Environmental Planning. Each course remains a parent qualification . Specialisations are shown within the course entry rather than being presented as separate degrees . Main qualifications are consolidated to include campus, dual, part-time and specialisation variants, whilst fee-charging international design and architecture programs remain separately identifiable.
Program level control of admission. Students who have obtained their qualifications outside of Germany will be directed to the appropriate portal and credential pathway for the specific program at Hochschule Anhalt. Depending on the program, this may include an academic review and/or the submission of an additional portfolio or language evidence. Applicants should check the teaching language, entry semester, subject prerequisites, selection procedure and document route before submitting their application. International school or university qualifications may have to be externally assessed, translated and certified and for some countries, accompanied by APS documentation and/or further evidence of academic equivalence. Master’s committees may require module descriptions, portfolios, writing samples, professional experience or interviews. The access to the doctorate is independent of the admission to the bachelor or master degree and generally depends on a feasible research proposal, suitable supervision and formal acceptance by the relevant faculty.
In general most regular programs are tuition free. Regular semester contribution in 2026 is approx. €322.80 including the Germany ticket. Selected international design, architecture and continuing programs charge additional program fees. These institutional charges do not include rent, health insurance, food, learning materials, residence formalities, project costs or personal travel. If provided for by the relevant law or program regulation, special tuition may be provided for continuing-education, distance-learning, joint, second-degree, or long-term study formats. Funding (e.g. BAföG for eligible students, Deutschlandstipendium, DAAD and Erasmus+ mobility support, foundations, research employment or university-specific awards) is available, but each funding application is evaluated separately from admission.
Career preparation is aligned with the university's subject mix and is not a guarantyd placement scheme. Regional organisations in the chemical, food, agricultural, engineering, logistics, architectural, design, media, software and public sectors back projects and jobs. Students may improve their professional readiness through internships, applied projects, research assistantships, employer events, language development, entrepreneurship services, international mobility and externally partnered thesis. For students who want to get practical study experience in technology, bioscience, agriculture, design or architecture in smaller campus cities in central Germany, Hochschule Anhalt is a good choice.
