PES University is a private university in Bengaluru whose institutional roots extend more than five decades. The People’s Education Society was founded by Prof. M. R. Doreswamy with an early commitment to widening access to education in south Bengaluru. The group's first school-level and pre-university initiatives began in the late 1960s and early 1970s, followed by substantial expansion into engineering, management and higher professional education over the next several decades. The university emerged from this established education network. PES Institute of Technology became the institutional base for university status, and the Karnataka government enacted the PES University Act before approving commencement as a private university in 2013. Government documentation records the act's gazette publication in February 2013 and formal approval to establish and commence the university in November 2013. The university subsequently expanded academic programmes, research, infrastructure and digital learning systems while retaining the PES values of perseverance, excellence and service.
