Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India University, Meghalaya Summary
The ICFAI University, Meghalaya is a state private university established under the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India University, Meghalaya Act, 2005. The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly enacted the law as Act No. 12 of 2005, and the university was formally notified by the state government on 22 February 2006. Its legal name was later simplified through a 2021 legislative amendment from the longer Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India University, Meghalaya to The ICFAI University, Meghalaya. The university is part of the ICFAI education network and operates in Meghalaya with academic activity centered on management studies, information technology, humanities, social sciences and related professional areas. Its programme structure includes undergraduate and postgraduate education, with an emphasis on career-focused learning, communication, analytical skills and professional preparation. UGC notified the university under Section 2(f) in November 2009, and the institution is empowered to award degrees under Section 22 of the UGC Act. It is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities and the Association of Commonwealth Universities. The university's campus environment in Meghalaya supports classroom teaching, student activities and regional access to private higher education. Its institutional history is thus defined by a clear statutory sequence: the 2005 Act, 2006 state notification, 2009 UGC recognition and 2021 change in nomenclature, followed by continuing expansion of teaching and student services. The university's current shorter name reflects the 2021 amendment while its statutory continuity goes back to the 2005 Act. Its academic structure is comparatively focused around management, technology and humanities-oriented disciplines. Established under Meghalaya Act No. 12 of 2005. Formally notified by the Government of Meghalaya on 22 February 2006. The university is part of the wider ICFAI education network. It is empowered to award degrees under Section 22 of the UGC Act.
