Bhakta Kavi Narsinh Mehta University (BKNMU) is a state university in Junagadh, Gujarat, created under Gujarat Act No. 23 of 2015 and formally established on 16 September 2015. The university is named for the fifteenth-century Gujarati saint-poet Narsinh Mehta and serves the Saurashtra region through a broad affiliating and postgraduate-teaching role. Its territorial jurisdiction covers Junagadh, Porbandar, Gir Somnath and Devbhumi Dwarka districts, connecting the university with government, grant-in-aid and self-financed colleges across a large coastal and inland region of Gujarat. BKNMU began operations from the Government Polytechnic premises at Khadiya near Junagadh and has developed university teaching departments alongside its affiliated-college system.
