UKA TARSADIA UNIVERSITY Summary
Uka Tarsadia University (UTU) is a state private university at Maliba Campus on the Bardoli-Mahuva Road in South Gujarat, established in 2011 by Bardoli Pradesh Kelavani Mandal. The sponsoring organization was founded in 1960 to expand higher education for the rural and tribal communities around Bardoli and gradually built a large network of undergraduate and postgraduate institutions. A major phase of professional education began in 1999 with the development of Maliba Campus at Gopal Vidyanagar. Pharmacy, business administration, computer science and information technology, biotechnology, nursing, sports, engineering and other colleges were established there before university status. Bardoli Pradesh Kelavani Mandal began planning a full university in 2008, and the vision was realized when Gujarat passed the relevant private-university amendment in March 2011. UTU now offers programs across management, commerce, engineering and technology, architecture, design, sciences, agriculture, computing, microbiology, biotechnology, pharmacy, nursing, physiotherapy, Ayurveda and other fields. The green campus has grown into a large multidisciplinary environment with laboratories, libraries, hostels, transportation, sports and auditoriums. Research, doctoral education and funded laboratory work are important parts of the university's academic activity, particularly in science, pharmacy, biotechnology and engineering. The university benefits from Bardoli's long social and educational tradition and from its proximity to Surat's industrial and professional economy. Its central library and other shared campus facilities support students across multiple institutes and departments. As a state private university, UKA TARSADIA UNIVERSITY operates within the statutory and quality frameworks applicable to higher education in Gujarat. The institution's Bardoli location also shapes the professional, cultural and community networks available to students. Academic development since 2011 has included continued work on curriculum, governance, student support and institutional partnerships. Research, seminars, projects and co-curricular activities provide additional settings for students to apply classroom learning. Library, digital-learning and student-support systems complement the university's teaching and practical-learning environment.
