UPL University of Sustainable Technology Summary
UPL University of Sustainable Technology is a state private university in Gujarat established by Ankleshwar Rotary Education Society under the Gujarat Private Universities framework with effect from 1 June 2021. The university is located on the Ankleshwar-Valia Road in Bharuch district, within one of Gujarat's most important chemical, pharmaceutical and process-industry belts. Its institutional roots go back to 2011, when Shroff S. R. Rotary Institute of Chemical Technology began engineering education under Gujarat Technological University. In 2018, SRICT Institute of Science and Research was added to strengthen science education, research and laboratory-based learning. The university structure brought these established institutions together with a Centre of Excellence in Process Safety and a stronger focus on sustainable industrial technology. Academic strengths include chemical engineering, environmental science and technology, mechanical and electrical engineering, chemical technology, applied sciences and postgraduate or doctoral research. Industry-focused chemical-technology pathways have included pharmaceutical technology, dyes and pigments, polymers and rubber, and glass and ceramics. The university's mission is closely connected with industrial training, process safety, research, innovation and the development of professionals for manufacturing and sustainability-oriented sectors. Support from UPL Limited, the Shroff family and industrial partners has helped shape laboratories, applied projects and the university's industry-facing academic culture. National Education Policy reforms have been incorporated progressively into academic structures, including flexible and multidisciplinary elements. UPL University of Sustainable Technology operates within Gujarat's higher-education framework and serves students from the Ankleshwar region as well as learners from other parts of India. Its current university framework dates from 2021, while programs, research activity, student services and external partnerships continue to develop. The Ankleshwar location shapes opportunities for field exposure, internships, professional interaction and community engagement relevant to the institution's academic profile. Research, seminars, projects and co-curricular activity give students additional settings in which to apply concepts beyond scheduled classes.
