William Carey University, Shillong Summary
Vivek University is a state private university on Moradabad Road in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, established under the Uttar Pradesh Private Universities framework with effect from 6 December 2024. The university is sponsored by Shivika Educational Society and builds on an existing education and healthcare ecosystem in Bijnor. Uttar Pradesh Act No. 21 of 2024 added Vivek University to the state's private-university schedule, and the national regulator confirmed its establishment and Section 2(f) inclusion in February 2025. The university is developing a broad professional and multidisciplinary portfolio covering sciences, agriculture, law, teacher education, social work, veterinary sciences, naturopathy and yoga, and health-related fields. Programs also extend across other academic and professional areas as the university consolidates predecessor institutions and expands its university-level schools. A significant campus feature is access to a NABH-certified multispecialty hospital, which supports clinical and practical exposure for health and allied-health learners. Teaching is positioned around academic knowledge, practical training, research-driven learning, skill development, leadership and ethical responsibility. The campus serves a largely rural and semi-urban region of western Uttar Pradesh, giving the university a specific mission around local access to professional higher education. Modern laboratories, digital library resources and professional infrastructure support the new university's teaching model. As a recently established institution, Vivek University continues building doctoral programs, research systems, statutory approvals and interdisciplinary academic structures. Vivek University operates within Uttar Pradesh's higher-education framework and serves students from the Bijnor region as well as learners from other parts of India. Its current university framework dates from 2024, while programs, research activity, student services and external partnerships continue to develop. The Bijnor location shapes opportunities for field exposure, internships, professional interaction and community engagement relevant to the institution's academic profile. Professional programs follow the standards and approval requirements of the relevant statutory or professional bodies where applicable.
