Charotar University of Science & Technology, Anand Summary
Charotar University of Science and Technology, widely known as CHARUSAT, is a private university at Changa in Anand district, Gujarat. Its institutional roots are linked to the Charotar region's community-led education movement. Shri Charotar Moti Sattavis Leuva Patidar Samaj dates to 1895, while Shri Charotar Moti Sattavis Patidar Kelavani Mandal was created in 1994 to focus on knowledge creation and education. The Mandal established the Education Campus at Changa in 2000, and that cluster of institutes later became the foundation for CHARUSAT. The university itself came into existence on 24 July 2009 under the Gujarat Private Universities Act. Today it brings together disciplines such as engineering and technology, pharmacy, computer applications, management, applied sciences, nursing, physiotherapy and other health and professional fields. CHARUSAT emphasizes student-centred education, research, innovation and social contribution, with a campus structure that allows technical, scientific and health disciplines to interact. The university has received NAAC accreditation, later progressing to A+ status, and has been recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. The Government of Gujarat has also conferred Centre of Excellence status. CHARUSAT's location at Changa gives it a strong regional identity while its academic model seeks national and international engagement. Its history is notable for the transformation of a community-supported education campus into a multidisciplinary private university with substantial research and professional education capacity. The source workbook preserves 2000 as the establishment-year value because that marks the Changa education campus, while the statutory university was created in 2009. This two-stage history helps explain why CHARUSAT combines the culture of an older educational trust with the governance and research structures of a newer university. Its continuing development is closely associated with the Charotar region's tradition of community participation in education. Community roots remain central.
