BHAIKAKA UNIVERSITY Summary
Bhaikaka University is a private health-sciences university at Karamsad in Anand district, Gujarat. It emerged from the long-standing work of Charutar Arogya Mandal, a non-profit trust and society formed in 1972 to advance affordable health care, education, research and community health. The university was created in 2019 when the Government of Gujarat conferred private-university status on the H. M. Patel Centre for Medical Care and Education under the Gujarat private-university framework. Its academic ecosystem brings together established health institutions including Pramukhswami Medical College, nursing institutes, the K. M. Patel Institute of Physiotherapy, medical laboratory technology and allied health units, public-health activity and Shree Krishna Hospital. The result is a unitary university model closely integrated with clinical practice and community health. Programmes cover medicine, postgraduate medical specialties, super-specialty study, nursing, physiotherapy, medical technology, allied health sciences, public health, hospital administration, doctoral research, fellowships and certificate or diploma education. The university’s roots give it a distinctive emphasis on patient care, clinical training, professional ethics and community-oriented health education. Students learn in an environment where classrooms, laboratories and hospital-based clinical practice are connected. Research and doctoral work are supported across health disciplines, while the university also engages in public-health and community programmes. The institution takes its name from Bhaikaka, a prominent figure associated with the development of Vallabh Vidyanagar and higher education in the Charotar region. Although the university itself is recent, many of its constituent institutions have histories extending back several decades. This combination of mature clinical institutions and a newer university structure gives Bhaikaka University a strong specialist identity in medical and health-professions education. Integration with Shree Krishna Hospital keeps medical and allied-health education connected with patient care, diagnostics and real clinical workflows. Charutar Arogya Mandal’s community-health tradition also gives public service and regional health needs a visible place in the university mission.
