UN YPP 2026 Applications Open: Eligibility, Exam Area and November 30 Deadline
The United Nations Young Professionals Programme (YPP) is accepting applications for its 2026 examination in Development and Sustainability. The official UN Careers vacancy lists November 30, 2026, as the application deadline. Applicants should check the official vacancy and YPP guidance before submitting their forms through the UN’s Inspira recruitment system.
YPP is an entry route to professional-level careers in the UN Secretariat. The 2026 exam area covers work connected with economic, social and environmental development, including subjects such as statistics, population affairs, data science and sustainable development. The programme is open only to nationals of countries selected for this year’s cycle, so meeting the age and education requirements alone does not guarantee eligibility.

Who can apply?
For the 2026 cycle, applicants must be nationals of a participating UN Member State, hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent of at least three years that is relevant to the exam area, be 32 years old or younger (born on or after January 1, 1994), and be fluent in English or French. The participating-country list is published on the UN Careers YPP page. Applicants should verify their nationality against that list before beginning an application; India is not listed among the participating countries for this cycle.
How to apply
Read the Development and Sustainability vacancy carefully, especially its education and application instructions. Prepare the requested supporting documents, complete the application in Inspira, and submit it before the deadline. Avoid waiting until the final day in case you need time to resolve account or document issues. The UN says the YPP application and examination process does not require payment of a fee; applicants should be cautious of anyone asking for money in exchange for selection or exam access.
Passing the examination does not automatically mean an immediate job offer. Successful candidates may be placed on a roster used to fill relevant UN Secretariat vacancies. The roster is valid for three years, and placement on it does not guarantee employment. Candidates should also be prepared for postings at UN duty stations in different countries.
