KSEAB Opposes II PUC Exam Delay, Citing CET and Student Preparation
The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) is opposing a request to postpone the 2027 II PUC examinations. The Census Department asked the state to move the start of the first II PUC exam from February 27 to March 6, 2027, so teachers could support population enumeration. KSEAB has sent its view to the state government, warning that shifting the timetable could affect other examinations, evaluation and students’ preparation.
II PUC Exam and Census Dates
| Event | Dates or figures |
|---|---|
| II PUC Exam 1, tentative | February 27–March 17, 2027 |
| Census population enumeration | January 25–February 28, 2027 |
| Census revision round | March 1–5, 2027 |
| Date requested by Census Department for II PUC start | March 6, 2027 |
| II PUC Exam 2, tentative | May 3–15, 2027 |
| SSLC Exam 1, tentative | March 22–April 5, 2027 |
The Census Department said it needs more than 1.5 lakh enumerators and supervisors across Karnataka. A significant number may come from the education sector. The request is intended to ensure staff are available through the enumeration and revision periods.
Why KSEAB Is Resisting the Change
KSEAB’s concern is that a later II PUC timetable could have a knock-on effect on the SSLC schedule, evaluation work for both examinations and the wider academic calendar. Officials also say January and February are important months for revision, practice examinations and extra support for students who need it. A further large deployment of teachers could interrupt classroom instruction during this period.
The timing matters for students preparing for entrance tests and College Admissions after Class 12. A delay to board examinations or evaluation could affect the schedule for Karnataka’s Common Entrance Test (CET) and the College Admissions process for engineering and medical courses, including counselling linked to NEET. The board’s position is that maintaining the established examination schedule helps limit disruption across these linked stages.
Has the II PUC Timetable Changed?
The dates in the table are from KSEAB’s tentative timetable. The Census Department has requested a change, but KSEAB has opposed it and submitted its position to the state government. Students should check for a final timetable or official order before making plans; the request alone does not change an examination date.
For now, students can use the tentative schedule to organise revision while watching for updates from KSEAB and the state education department. Schools should also track instructions about teacher deployment and examination duties.
What Students Should Watch Next
The decision will determine whether the proposed February 27 start remains in place or moves to March 6. Any confirmed change could affect II PUC students, SSLC candidates, teachers, evaluation timelines and entrance-test planning. Until an official timetable replaces the tentative one, candidates should follow the published dates and prepare for their board examinations without relying on speculation.
