NEET PG 2026 Round 1 Result Out: How to Check Category-Wise Closing Ranks
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) published the final allotment result for Round 1 of PG Counselling 2026 on October 24. Candidates can check their allotted institute and course through the official MCC portal. The result is also the source candidates can use to review the last allotted rank for a particular course, institute, quota and category.
A closing rank is not one national cutoff for every MD or MS course. It varies by institute, specialty, seat type and category. To estimate a Round 1 closing rank, identify the last allotted candidate for the relevant combination in MCC’s final result. Do not confuse this counselling closing rank with the NEET PG qualifying percentile, which is an eligibility threshold.

How to use the result to check a closing rank
- Open the final Round 1 allotment result from MCC’s PG counselling page.
- Find the relevant course and institute, then check the seat quota and category.
- Compare the allotted candidates’ ranks for that same combination. The last allotted rank is the Round 1 closing rank for that seat group.
- Use the final seat matrix alongside the result. Seat additions, withdrawals or category conversions can affect which rank receives a seat.
Compare like with like: an MD specialty under the All India Quota cannot be compared directly with a deemed-university seat or a different category. A Round 1 closing rank is a reference point, not a guarantee of admission in later rounds. MCC may publish updated seat matrices and revised results, so candidates should check for corrections before making decisions.
Candidates allotted a seat should download the allotment letter, read the reporting instructions and complete joining within the notified period. Check the allotted college’s official instructions for required documents, original certificates, fees and medical examination requirements. If a candidate does not intend to take the allotted seat, they should read MCC’s current rules on non-reporting, resignation and security-deposit forfeiture before acting.
