UGC NET December 2026 Registration Deadline Extended to October 31
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the deadline to apply for the UGC NET December 2026 examination. Candidates can now submit the online application form and complete the examination-fee payment by October 31, 2026, at 11:50 p.m. The extension is available without a late fee, according to NTA’s public notice dated October 27.
UGC NET determines eligibility for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointment as Assistant Professor, and admission to PhD programmes in Indian universities and colleges. Candidates who have not finished registration should complete both the application and fee-payment steps before the revised deadline.
Revised UGC NET December 2026 dates
| Application activity | Revised deadline | Late fee |
|---|---|---|
| Submit online application form | October 31, 2026, by 11:50 p.m. | No late fee for the extended period |
| Complete successful examination-fee transaction | October 31, 2026, by 11:50 p.m. | No late fee for the extended period |
What applicants should do
Visit the official UGC NET website and sign in to the December 2026 application portal. Complete the required form sections, review the information entered, upload the required documents and pay the examination fee through the available online payment options. Allow time for the transaction to process, then check that the application is recorded as submitted and retain the confirmation page and payment receipt.
Submitting the form and completing the fee transaction are separate steps. NTA’s notice gives October 31 as the deadline for both. Applicants should not assume that filling in the form alone completes registration. If a payment is pending or the confirmation page does not appear, check the portal’s instructions and the payment status promptly.
What remains unchanged
NTA’s notice extends the application and fee-payment deadlines. It says all other terms and conditions in the Information Bulletin and earlier public notices remain unchanged. Candidates should therefore use the current bulletin for eligibility, subject selection, examination instructions and other requirements, and monitor the official sites for any further announcements.
Complete the process well before 11:50 p.m. on October 31 to reduce the risk of last-minute technical problems. Use the application link reached through the official UGC NET website, and rely on NTA notices for any subsequent changes to the examination schedule.
