Examples of undergraduate studies are Applied Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Business Administration, Business and Law, Chemistry and Earth System Science and later on Environmental Engineering, Energy Engineering and Robotics. Postgraduate studies include Advanced Materials Analysis, Applied Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Business Administration, Chemistry, Computational Materials Science, Circular Economy Engineering, Robotics, Computational Science and Engineering. The specialisations will be reflected within the course entry rather than incorrectly presented as individual degrees and each course will remain a parent qualification. The official portfolio comprises bachelor’s, master’s, German Diplom, continuing and international programs. This file lists main regular qualifications and merges closely related specialisation tracks.
Admission is controlled at the program level. International students use the TUBAF application portal and the track indicated for the corresponding German- or English-language program. Relevant master’s programs are reviewed by faculty. Before submitting your application you need to check the language of instruction, semester of entry, subject prerequisites, selection procedure and document route. International school or university qualifications may have to be externally assessed, translated and certified and for some countries, accompanied by APS documentation and/or further evidence of academic equivalence. Master’s committees may require module descriptions, portfolios, writing samples, professional experience or interviews. Admission to a doctoral program is independent of admission to a bachelor or master program and normally requires a feasible research proposal, eligible supervision and formal acceptance by the respective faculty.
Regular programs are free of charge for tuition. Semester fee for winter 2026/27 is €107. For a second degree an additional €300. Fees for designated postgraduate programs are separate. Institutional charges exclude rent, health insurance, food, learning materials, residence formalities, project costs and personal travel. If provided for by the relevant law or program regulation, special tuition may be provided for continuing-education, distance-learning, joint, second-degree, or long-term study formats. Funding (e.g. BAföG for eligible students, Deutschlandstipendium, DAAD and Erasmus+ mobility support, foundations, research employment or university-specific awards) is available, but each funding application is evaluated separately from admission.
Career preparation is a reflection of the subject mix of the university and not a placement scheme that is guaranteed. Core professional fields include mining, metallurgy, recycling, materials, energy, environmental engineering, geotechnics, manufacturing, consulting, research and public resource agencies. Students have the opportunity to grow their professional readiness through internships, applied projects, research assistantships, employer events, language development, entrepreneurship services, international mobility and an externally partnered thesis. Students who are looking for a technical university with a specialisation in resources, materials, circular economy, geoscience and sustainable industrial systems will find TUBAF particularly attractive.
