Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University, Prayagraj is a state National Law University created to strengthen advanced legal education and research in Uttar Pradesh. The institution was originally established as Uttar Pradesh National Law University, Prayagraj under the Uttar Pradesh National Law University Act, 2020. In August 2023, state legislation renamed it Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University in honour of India’s first President, a distinguished jurist with strong connections to Allahabad’s legal and academic world. The university is located in Prayagraj, the principal seat of the Allahabad High Court and a city with a long tradition of legal education. Its academic model combines doctrinal law, interdisciplinary study, practical training, ethics, technology and social-justice concerns. The integrated B.A. LL.B. (Honours) is the principal undergraduate programme. Postgraduate study includes LL.M. education. Doctoral research has been added to the university’s academic portfolio.
