CHAUDHARY RANBIR SINGH UNIVERSITY, JIND Summary
Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University (CRSU) is a state public university in Jind, Haryana, established under the Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University, Jind Act, 2014. The Act received the assent of the Governor of Haryana on 24 July 2014 and came into force through state notification in August that year. It created a teaching-cum-affiliating university with an explicit mandate to promote higher education in areas including information technology and computer education, commerce, humanities, management studies and connected disciplines. The university is named after Chaudhary Ranbir Singh, a freedom fighter, constitution-maker and public figure from Haryana. CRSU operates from a campus of about seventy-five acres in Jind and combines university teaching departments with affiliation responsibilities for colleges in its assigned jurisdiction. It received recognition under Section 2(f) of the University Grants Commission Act shortly after its establishment and later became eligible under Section 12(B). The university is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities. Its academic structure includes programmes in education, management, commerce, computer science, humanities, social sciences, physical education, sciences and other multidisciplinary fields. The central library began with the university and supports teaching and research through print and electronic resources. CRSU has emphasized curriculum reform and implementation of the National Education Policy framework, including multidisciplinary and flexible academic structures. As a relatively young public university, its development has involved building academic departments, statutory bodies, research systems, student services and an affiliated-college network simultaneously. The Jind location gives CRSU a specific regional role in central Haryana, where it expands access to postgraduate study and coordinates college-level higher education. Its teaching-cum-affiliating model allows the university to combine direct academic programmes with curriculum, examination and degree responsibilities across its wider institutional network. Its statutory purpose specifically links access to higher education with emerging academic fields while maintaining responsibility for colleges assigned to its territorial jurisdiction.
