Sushant University Summary
Sushant University is a state private university in Gurugram, Haryana, established in 2012 and known as Ansal University until its renaming in 2020. Its academic heritage begins with the Sushant School of Art and Architecture, founded in 1989 under the Chiranjiv Charitable Trust. That school created a strong architecture and design identity long before the wider institution received university status. The trust expanded into technology education with the Ansal Institute of Technology in 2000 and later added the School of Design. In 2012 the expanding group of institutions was brought under Ansal University through Haryana's private-university legislation. The university was renamed Sushant University in 2020, reconnecting the institution's name with the legacy of its flagship architecture school. Today it offers programs through schools covering architecture and planning, design, engineering and technology, health sciences, hospitality, law, management and related interdisciplinary areas. Its Gurugram campus places students near a major concentration of multinational companies, design firms, hospitality businesses, healthcare organizations and professional services. The university uses studio work, laboratories, projects, internships, field engagement and industry interaction to complement classroom study. International and national collaborations have supported curriculum development, student and faculty exchange, joint research and academic events. Architecture, planning and design remain distinctive strengths while the university has developed a broader professional and research portfolio. The institution supports doctoral study, academic conferences and applied research across several schools. Sushant University's evolution therefore links more than three decades of design education with a contemporary multidisciplinary private-university model. Sushant University operates within Haryana's higher-education system and serves learners from the Gurugram region as well as students arriving from other parts of India. The Gurugram setting also shapes the professional, cultural and community networks available around the university. The institution's development reflects a continuing effort to combine degree education with research, practical learning and student development.
