Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University Summary
Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University is a state university of the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi created to integrate applied higher education, technical training, skill development and entrepreneurship. The Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University Act was passed by the Delhi Legislative Assembly on 3 December 2019, received the Lieutenant Governor’s assent on 26 February 2020 and was notified in the Delhi Gazette on 26 May 2020. The university was designed around a distributed-campus model rather than a single conventional campus. Existing government polytechnics, engineering colleges, skill centres and specialized institutes were brought into a common university framework, giving DSEU a network spread across multiple districts of Delhi. Official university material records 23 campuses and a large portfolio of diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, part-time and skill programmes. Its academic philosophy emphasizes applied learning, employability, entrepreneurship and close alignment with specific job roles. Programmes span engineering, information technology, design, business, healthcare, hospitality, retail, logistics, electronics, manufacturing and other vocational and professional areas. DSEU’s curriculum model stresses hands-on learning, industry interaction, employability skills and multiple entry and exit pathways. The university also uses shorter skill-credit, upskilling and recognition-of-prior-learning formats alongside full qualifications. Campuses such as the former G.B. Pant engineering institution, Pusa, Okhla, Dwarka and other technical-education sites provide specialized laboratories and workshop infrastructure inherited from earlier institutions. In 2024, DSEU notified regulations reorganizing faculties, departments and schools of studies across the university. Its distinctive institutional purpose is to reduce the separation between vocational training and university education by placing both within a single public higher-education system. DSEU therefore functions simultaneously as a degree university, a technical-training network and an entrepreneurship-oriented skill institution linked closely to Delhi’s labour market and industries. Its multi-campus structure incorporates former polytechnics and institutions across Delhi, allowing programmes to combine academic qualifications with applied training, industry exposure and employability learning.
