DARSHAN UNIVERSITY Summary
Darshan University is a private multidisciplinary university on the Rajkot-Morbi Highway in Gujarat, around 19 kilometres from Rajkot. Its institutional journey began in 2009 when Shree G. N. Patel Education and Charitable Trust established an engineering institute focused on technical education and practical training. The institution was later consolidated as Darshan University under the Gujarat State Private Universities amendment legislation of 2021. This transition broadened an engineering-led campus into a university offering diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral education. Academic areas include engineering and technology, computer applications, management and commerce, microbiology and yoga, with programmes delivered through constituent institutes and departments. Darshan places strong emphasis on skill development, project-based learning and industry interaction. Laboratories are regularly upgraded for applied work, while seminars, workshops, internships and industrial projects are used to connect classroom learning with professional practice. The university also supports student participation in consultancy assignments through its “earn while you learn” approach. Its Rajkot location places students close to one of Gujarat’s important engineering, manufacturing and small-industry clusters, giving technical and management programmes a useful regional industry context. Campus life includes NCC and NSS activities, student clubs, technical events, sports and cultural programmes. The university’s learning resources include digital study material, e-notes, video lectures and academic management systems. Research and doctoral study extend the institution’s original technical focus into science, management, commerce and interdisciplinary areas. Darshan University therefore combines the continuity of an institution founded in 2009 with the wider academic scope made possible by university status in 2021. Its defining features are its Saurashtra location, applied technical heritage, skill-oriented teaching model, project culture and close connection between academic learning and industry-facing practice. Its progression from an engineering institute to a multidisciplinary university also gives the campus a continuous academic culture rather than the character of a newly assembled institution.
