ADICHUNCHANAGIRI UNIVERSITY Summary
Adichunchanagiri University is a state private university headquartered at B.G. Nagara in Mandya district, Karnataka. The Government of Karnataka formally notified the university on 22 January 2018 under an Act of the State Legislature. It operates under the broader educational and social-service legacy of Sri Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Math and Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust, whose network grew over several decades to include schools, professional colleges, hospitals and other institutions. The university brings together a multidisciplinary group of constituent institutions covering medicine, engineering, pharmacy, nursing, natural sciences, humanities, education and related fields. Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences, established in 1986, is one of the major predecessor institutions and anchors a significant part of the university’s health-sciences ecosystem. Teaching hospitals, research centres, laboratories and professional training facilities support programs that combine academic instruction with clinical, technical and applied learning. Adichunchanagiri University received recognition under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act in November 2022. It later achieved an A+ grade with a CGPA of 3.39 in its first NAAC accreditation cycle in 2024. The university’s quality profile also includes professional regulatory approvals and recognition associated with its constituent colleges. Its academic environment is shaped by the BGS educational tradition, which combines science, service and values-based institutional development. Research and innovation are significant elements of ACU’s current strategy. The university supports research centres, funded projects, incubation activity and collaborations across its health, technology and science disciplines. Its B.G. Nagara location creates a distinctive campus environment where higher education, hospital services and community engagement operate together. ACU’s development therefore reflects the conversion of a long-standing educational and healthcare network into a unified university structure, while retaining the specialist strengths of its constituent institutions and expanding multidisciplinary research and quality-assurance systems. Its multidisciplinary structure also allows health-science and technology institutions to share research infrastructure and institutional quality systems.
