SRI SATHYA SAI UNIVERSITY FOR HUMAN EXCELLENCE Summary
Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence (SSSUHE) is a state private university in Karnataka established to combine formal higher education with a residential values-based model centered on what the institution describes as human excellence. The university’s main campus is at Navanihal near Kamalapur in Kalaburagi district, with additional educational activity associated with campuses at Nallakadirenahalli and Muddenahalli. Its statutory foundation comes from the Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence Act, 2018, with the institution recording 8 March 2019 as the date on which government approval took effect. The university is sponsored by Prashanthi Balamandira Trust and was established under the leadership of Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai. A defining feature is its commitment to providing education without charging tuition, while also supporting students with residential needs such as lodging and boarding under its institutional model. Academic life is designed around a Gurukula-inspired environment that combines modern subjects with ethics, service, discipline and Indian knowledge traditions. The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and research education while emphasizing teacher development, sciences, humanities and other fields aligned with its mission. It presents integration of ancient Indian wisdom with modern science and technology as an important academic theme. External academic engagement has included memoranda or collaborations with major institutions in India and abroad. Residential community life, service activity, cultural learning and character formation are treated as integral parts of the educational experience. The university’s no-tuition model makes its financial and residential structure notably different from most private universities in India. Its Kalaburagi location extends the sponsoring trust’s educational network into northern Karnataka. SRI SATHYA SAI UNIVERSITY FOR HUMAN EXCELLENCE operates within Karnataka's private higher-education system and serves learners from the Kalaburagi region as well as other parts of India. The Kalaburagi setting also shapes the professional, cultural and community networks available around the university.
