ATMIYA UNIVERSITY Summary
Atmiya University is a state private university in Rajkot, Gujarat, established on April 13, 2018. Its institutional roots extend much further back through Sarvoday Kelavani Samaj, the sponsoring body founded in 1967. The trust became associated with Yogi Divine Society in 1988 and developed a network of schools, colleges and professional institutions before the university was created. This legacy gives Atmiya a longer educational history than its university-establishment date alone suggests. The university operates from Yogidham Gurukul on Kalawad Road in Rajkot. Its academic environment includes engineering and technology, science, pharmacy, management, commerce, computer applications, humanities and social sciences, and other professional fields. Certificate, diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes are delivered within a curriculum that places human values, ethics, sustainability and social responsibility alongside disciplinary learning. Atmiya also uses outcome-based education, semester systems and interdisciplinary elements in its curriculum. The campus covers more than twenty acres and includes academic buildings, laboratories, support facilities and landscaped spaces. Research, patents, innovation, entrepreneurship and faculty development form part of the university’s quality framework. Atmiya is recognized under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act and publishes approvals from professional regulators such as AICTE and PCI where applicable. The university was created by bringing established institutions into a single university framework. State correspondence from April 2018 identified Atmiya Institute of Technology and Science, Atmiya Institute of Pharmacy and Gyanyagna College of Science and Management as constituent institutions. This transition from a group of colleges into a university remains central to Atmiya’s institutional character. The university’s values framework is strongly influenced by the educational and social philosophy of its sponsoring organizations, so academic development is paired with community service, ethical formation and sustainability initiatives. This combination of inherited institutional experience and a newer university structure allows Atmiya to connect long-established Rajkot colleges with interdisciplinary research and university-level governance.
