Annamacharya University is a private university at Rajampet in Andhra Pradesh's Annamayya district. It was established under the brownfield category in 2024, but its institutional roots extend to the Annamacharya Educational Trust and a network of colleges developed from the late 1990s onward. The university is governed under the Andhra Pradesh Private Universities framework and was authorized through G.O.Ms.No.13 of the Higher Education Department dated March 13, 2024. The sponsoring Annamacharya Educational Trust provides the historical foundation for the transition from affiliated institutions to a university structure. The university operates from a campus extending over more than 100 acres, with academic, administrative, laboratory, library, residential, and student-support infrastructure. Its academic model builds on established strengths in engineering, technology, pharmacy, management, computer applications, sciences, and other professional fields while developing newer interdisciplinary and research opportunities under university status. Annamacharya University's history is closely linked to the growth of the trust's educational institutions in Rajampet and other locations. Annamacharya Institute of Technology and Sciences at Rajampet began in 1998, followed by pharmacy, education, technology, and postgraduate institutions over subsequent years. This accumulated academic base enabled the group to qualify for brownfield private-university status rather than starting as an entirely new greenfield institution. The university states that its priorities include stronger infrastructure, industry tie-ups, international collaboration, innovative programs, qualified faculty, research, innovation, and outreach. Its Rajampet location gives the institution a regional role in serving students from Rayalaseema and neighboring areas while continuing the trust's long-standing professional-education presence.
