AMITY UNIVERSITY,JHARKHAND Summary
Amity University Jharkhand is a state private university in Ranchi established under Jharkhand Act No. 13 of 2016. The institution emerged after the Jharkhand government invited the Amity Education Group to establish a university in the state during the 2015–16 investment and development initiative. The university was incorporated through state legislation and notified in the Jharkhand Gazette on May 16, 2016. It is sponsored by the Ritnand Balved Education Foundation, the not-for-profit umbrella organization behind Amity institutions. The university began operations in 2016 with a compact academic structure. Institutional planning documents record an initial cohort of roughly 350 students studying across fifteen programs, nine institutes, and five faculties. Since that beginning, the academic portfolio has developed across engineering and technology, management, commerce, computer science, biotechnology, law, communication, humanities, and other professional and research areas. Teaching is designed around classroom learning, practical exposure, projects, skill development, and industry relevance, while university governance supports research and doctoral work. Amity University Jharkhand now operates from the HEC Core Capital Area near Pundag in Ranchi. The university is recognized under the UGC framework and has documented memberships or relationships with professional and industry bodies, including the Association of Indian Universities and the Bar Council of India for relevant purposes. Its institutional growth has included expansion of academic units, faculty capacity, student services, research activity, and professional networks. Unlike older Amity campuses, the Ranchi university has built its profile within a comparatively recent state-private-university environment. Its development therefore reflects a transition from a small launch cohort to a broader multidisciplinary institution focused on employability, research, professional education, and regional access to private higher education in Jharkhand. Ranchi’s role as the state capital also provides a useful external environment for legal, corporate, public-policy, media, technology, and community-facing academic activities. Its Ranchi setting supports connections with public institutions and professional networks.
