Manav Rachna University Summary
Manav Rachna University is a state private university in Faridabad, Haryana, established under Haryana State Legislature Act No. 26 of 2014. The university evolved from Manav Rachna College of Engineering, which had been established in 2004 and developed a strong engineering and applied-science profile before being upgraded to university status. It forms part of the wider Manav Rachna educational ecosystem whose origins date to 1997. MRU's academic structure extends beyond its engineering roots. The university offers programmes in engineering, computer applications, applied sciences, law, education and humanities, together with interdisciplinary and integrated study pathways. Research, innovation, industry interaction and project-based learning are important parts of the academic model. The institution also benefits from laboratories and centres created during the earlier engineering-college phase, providing continuity between the predecessor college and the present university. The transition from MRCE to MRU was formally notified by Haryana in August 2014, with academic programmes under the university structure beginning from the 2015–16 session. This transformed an established engineering college into a broader private university while retaining the predecessor's technical strengths. MRU's history is closely linked with the growth of Manav Rachna Educational Institutions, which began in 1997. The wider Manav Rachna educational journey began with the establishment of the Career Institute of Technology and Management. Current phase — Manav Rachna University continues multidisciplinary teaching and research while retaining its engineering legacy. The university retains the engineering and applied-science legacy of Manav Rachna College of Engineering. Its academic model combines technical education with law, education, humanities and interdisciplinary programmes. Selected engineering programmes at the predecessor college held National Board of Accreditation recognition. 6 August 2014 — Haryana notified the upgradation of MRCE into Manav Rachna University. Academic-expansion phase — Law, education, humanities and interdisciplinary programmes broadened the institution beyond engineering. Engineering and computer-science disciplines remain central academic strengths.
