Admission control at the program level. Applications are submitted online at kathi-net. Social Work begins in winter and for 2026/27 used a February 1-June 30 window; health, theology, dual and master’s routes have separate dates and partner conditions. Before submission, applicants must check the teaching language, entry semester, subject prerequisites, selection procedure and document route. International School or University Qualifications External evaluation, certified translations, APS documentation where applicable or other proof of academic equivalence may be required. Master’s committees may ask for module descriptions, portfolios, writing samples, professional experience, or interviews. Entry to doctoral study is separate from entry to the bachelor’s or master’s degree and normally requires a valid research proposal, suitable supervision and formal acceptance by the relevant faculty.
At KH Mainz, the regular degrees are tuition-free. The current contribution for the semester is approx. €320 for the student ticket and services. The contribution is normally paid by the employers within the dual Social Work arrangement. These institutional fees do not cover rent, health insurance, food, learning materials, residence formalities, project costs or personal travel. Special tuition may be applied in the case of continuing-education, distance-learning, joint, second-degree or long-term study formats, if provided for by the relevant law or program regulation. Funding may include BAföG for eligible students, the Deutschlandstipendium, DAAD and Erasmus+ mobility support, foundations, research employment or university-specific awards, but each funding application is assessed independently from admission.
The university’s subject mix determines the career preparation, not a placement guarantee. The practice is maintained by welfare agencies, hospitals, nursing services, therapy schools, diocesan institutions, parishes, youth and family services, counselling centers, public bodies and education providers. Students may improve their professional readiness by: Internships, Applied Projects, Research Assistantships, Employer Events, Language Development, Entrepreneurship Services, International Mobility, and an Externally Partnered Thesis. KH Mainz is a good option for students looking for a small, practice-oriented university for careers in social work, theology, nursing, therapy and professional education.
