Rayat Bahra Professional University Summary
Rayat Bahra Professional University is a newly established private university in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, created through the Rayat Bahra Professional University, Hoshiarpur Act, 2025. Punjab Act No. 8 of 2025 received the Governor's assent on 24 July 2025 and was published for general information on 30 July 2025. The legislation identifies the Rayat Bahra Group of Institutes as the sponsoring educational and charitable society. Although the university itself is new, the sponsoring group has a much longer education history. Rayat Bahra Group traces its establishment to 2001 and has since developed universities, schools and professional institutions across northern India. The 2025 Hoshiarpur university was conceived as a self-financing institution able to offer higher education in engineering, medical and paramedical fields, sciences, social sciences, life sciences, humanities, liberal arts, management and technology-enabled learning. The statutory act provides the university with its own academic and administrative framework while drawing on the group's existing professional-education experience. This gives Rayat Bahra Professional University a two-layer history: a recent legal establishment and an older institutional foundation through the Rayat Bahra network. Its Hoshiarpur location extends the group's university presence within Punjab and creates a platform for multidisciplinary, skills-oriented and professionally focused programs, including research and training at different levels of higher education. Established through Punjab Act No. 8 of 2025. The Governor of Punjab assented to the Act on 24 July 2025. The Act was published on 30 July 2025. Sponsored by the Rayat Bahra Group of Institutes. The sponsoring group traces its establishment to 2001. The statutory mandate includes engineering, health, sciences, humanities and management. The Act also provides scope for e-learning and online education. The university is structured as a self-financing private institution. Rayat Bahra Group began its education journey in northern India. 2000s — The group expanded into multiple professional colleges and campuses.
