Jayoti Vidyapeeth Women's University, Jaipur Summary
Jayoti Vidyapeeth Women's University is a private women's university in Jaipur district, Rajasthan, established and incorporated through Act No. 17 of 2008 of the Rajasthan Legislature. The Act was notified on 21 April 2008. The university presents itself as India's first private state women's university and was founded by Dr. Panckaj Garg with an educational mission centered on women's higher education, community development and access to professional fields that historically enrolled fewer women. The university operates from Vedaant Gyan Valley on the Jaipur-Ajmer corridor in a rural setting. Its multidisciplinary academic portfolio has included engineering, management, commerce, law, education, agriculture, pharmacy, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, physiotherapy, medical laboratory technology, yoga and naturopathy, design, humanities and other professional or applied fields. This breadth allows women to pursue both conventional degrees and professional education within a dedicated residential university environment. JVWU is recognized under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act and received NAAC accreditation with a B+ grade in 2018. The institution links its academic model with women empowerment, awareness of rights and community development, while also emphasizing research and interdisciplinary learning. Its history since 2008 is notable less for predecessor-college conversion and more for the establishment of a purpose-built women's university with a wide disciplinary mandate. The university's growth has therefore focused on expanding academic options, research activity and support systems within a women-centered higher-education setting. Its residential and women-focused model distinguishes the university within Rajasthan's private higher-education landscape. The institution combines community-development objectives with professional and research-oriented programmes. Research, interdisciplinary learning and women empowerment are central themes in its institutional profile. 21 April 2008 — Rajasthan notified Act No. 17 of 2008 establishing and incorporating the university. Recognition phase — The university secured recognition under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act.
