The Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts is a public university of music and performing arts. It is located in Frankfurt am Main, Hesse. The Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts is the specialist public university in Hesse for music, theatre and dance, combining artistic training, teacher training, management, scholarship and doctoral research. 1878 — Dr. Hoch's Conservatory opened in Frankfurt and established an influential predecessor tradition. Program-level admission controls are implemented. Applicants select the specific course, follow the current digital pathway, pay the advertized €50 application fee when applicable, upload recordings or written material, and participate in auditions, theory tests, hearing tests, interviews, movement or stage assessments. Applicants should check the language of instruction, semester of entry, subject requirements, selection process and document path before applying. International School or University Qualifications External evaluation, certified translations, APS documentation where applicable or other proof of academic equivalence may be required. Master’s committees may ask for module descriptions, portfolios, writing samples, professional experience, or interviews. Tuition fees are free for regular study. Contribution for the winter semester 2026/27 €399.78, including semester ticket €226.80. Application, audition travel, instruments, scores, recordings, production, insurance and living costs separate. These institutional charges do not include rent, health insurance, food, learning materials, residence formalities, project costs or personal travel. Special tuition may be applied in the case of continuing-education, distance-learning, joint, second-degree or long-term study formats, if provided for by the relevant law or program regulation. Funding may include BAföG for eligible students, the Deutschlandstipendium, DAAD and Erasmus+ mobility support, foundations, research employment or university-specific awards, but each funding application is assessed independently from admission.

Internships, applied projects, research assistantships, employer events, language development, entrepreneurship services, international mobility and a thesis developed in cooperation with an external partner can all help to improve professional readiness.
