Amrapali University Summary
Amrapali University is a state private university in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, built on the institutional base of the former Amrapali Group of Institutes. Its educational roots go back to 1999, when the group was established under the Modern Academy Educational Society. Over more than two decades, the group developed professional education in technology, computer applications, management, hospitality, pharmacy, education, and related fields before receiving university status under Uttarakhand’s private-university legislation. The university came into force in March 2024. The campus is located at Shiksha Nagar, Lamachaur, on Kaladhungi Road in Haldwani. Amrapali describes the site as an approximately 19-acre green campus with academic, laboratory, recreational, and student-support infrastructure. The university now organizes teaching through faculties that include Technology and Computer Applications, Commerce and Business Management, Hospitality Management, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Education, and Applied Sciences. Its program portfolio includes undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral study. Professional programs remain subject to the requirements of relevant regulatory bodies where applicable. Amrapali University’s academic direction combines its long-standing emphasis on employment-oriented professional education with university-level research, flexible multidisciplinary learning, and entrepreneurship. Institutional materials identify alignment with the National Education Policy 2020 and Outcome-Based Education, while an incubation cell supports students interested in converting ideas into ventures. The transition to university status also brought academic governance through bodies such as the Board of Governors, Board of Management, Academic Council, Boards of Studies, and examination authorities. The institution therefore represents both continuity and change: it retains the teaching experience and facilities developed since 1999 while operating from 2024 onward as an independent degree-awarding university serving Haldwani, the Kumaun region, and students from other parts of India. Its long pre-university record gives the new university an established base of laboratories, faculty experience, industry relationships, alumni, and career-services practices rather than requiring those systems to be created from the beginning.
