Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU) is a state private university at Jolly Grant near Dehradun, Uttarakhand, promoted by the Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust. Its institutional roots lie in the health, education and rural-service mission established by Swami Rama after his return to India in 1989. The trust opened a multispecialty hospital in 1994 and Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences in 1995, creating one of Uttarakhand's earliest large private medical-education ecosystems. The university came into existence through Uttarakhand legislation in March 2013 and was later renamed Swami Rama Himalayan University from its initial statutory name.
