37 Tarn Taran Students Qualify in NDA Written Examination
Thirty-seven students from Nishan-e-Sikhi at Khadoor Sahib in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district have qualified in the National Defence Academy (NDA) written examination. The result gives the group an opportunity to move to the next stage: the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducted the NDA and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2026, on September 13. The Tribune reported that the 37 qualifiers were associated with Nishan-e-Sikhi, which operates under the guidance of Baba Sewa Singh, head of Kaar Sewa Khadoor Sahib. The result was a notable showing for the institution’s NDA wing and for candidates from the Tarn Taran area.
The reported cohort breakdown included 31 students from the institute’s 11th course, among them four girls and 27 boys. Five boys from the 10th course and one boy from the ninth course also cleared the written examination. These course labels refer to the institute’s reported batches; they should not be confused with school grade levels.
Written qualification is the next step, not final selection
Clearing the written paper does not by itself mean a candidate has secured admission to the National Defence Academy. The 37 candidates are eligible to proceed to the SSB interview stage, where candidates are assessed further. The written result is therefore an important milestone in the selection process, while the remaining stages still matter.
Maj Gen Balwinder Singh (VSM), retired, director of the NDA wing, told The Tribune that nearly four lakh candidates across India appeared for the examination and around 8,000 qualified. Those figures were attributed to him in the report. He described Nishan-e-Sikhi’s result as a significant achievement. Baba Sewa Singh congratulated the successful candidates.
For NDA aspirants, the result also highlights the scale of competition in a national examination. Candidates who have qualified should now follow the official UPSC and SSB instructions for the next stage, including any required registration, document submission and interview preparation. Dates and individual instructions should be checked against official notices as they are issued.
