Punjab’s 2026–28 Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.), commonly called ETT, is being conducted through an entrance test under the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Punjab, with Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar, handling the admissions portal. The Punjab government has issued the admission notice, but the official notice says the entrance-test date, syllabus and test structure will be uploaded separately. As of October 15, 2026, candidates should treat reports of an October application window or November exam as tentative until SCERT publishes its schedule.
Application form and exam date: what is confirmed?
The GNDU portal has a section for online registration for the 2026–28 session and explains the application steps. However, its registration page currently displays dates from 2025. Candidates should not treat those old dates as the 2026 application deadline. Check the latest SCERT notification and portal update before submitting or relying on any schedule.
When registration opens, the portal instructions say candidates must register with their details and email OTP, upload a photograph and signature, enter academic and personal information, lock the form, pay the applicable fee online and save a copy of the submitted form and payment receipt. The current admission notice does not provide a confirmed 2026 exam date.
Punjab ETT 2026 eligibility highlights
- Education: A bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution is required. The notice specifies at least 50% marks for General-category candidates and 45% for candidates in the specified reserved categories.
- Punjabi: Candidates must have passed Punjabi up to the Matric level.
- Class 10 subjects: The notice requires passing English, Hindi, Punjabi, Science, Social Studies and Mathematics in the Class 10 examination.
- Punjab residence: The notice states that candidates must be residents of Punjab.
- Age: The stated maximum age for General-category applicants is 37 years on the application date. It provides age relaxation for specified categories; check the notice for the applicable rule before applying.
Meeting the degree requirement alone may not be enough: applicants should check subject, residence, age and category conditions in the current notice. The entrance test is used to prepare merit for admission, and the notice specifies minimum qualifying marks with relaxation for eligible reserved categories.
Important dates and timeline
- May 5, 2026: Punjab issued the admission notice for the two-year D.El.Ed. 2026–28 session.
- Application window: The official notice does not state confirmed dates in the document; check the current portal updates.
- Entrance test and admit card: Dates and test details are to be announced separately by SCERT.
- After the test: Admission is based on entrance-test merit, followed by online counselling and document verification.
What applicants should do now
Keep scanned academic records, a recent photograph, signature and relevant residence or category documents ready. Before paying, verify that the portal is showing the 2026–28 schedule and the correct fee for your category. Download the submitted application and payment receipt, and check the official portal regularly for the exam notice, admit-card instructions, result and counselling updates. If the application dates remain unclear, contact the GNDU help desk listed on the admission portal rather than relying on an old-date page or an unofficial timetable.
