THE NEOTIA UNIVERSITY Summary
The Neotia University (TNU) is a state private university at Sarisha in the Diamond Harbour area of South 24 Parganas, West Bengal, established through The Neotia University Act, 2014. The university is an initiative of the Ambuja Neotia Group and grew from an education legacy that included the Institute of Technology and Marine Engineering, established in 2002 and later known as Neotia Institute of Technology Management and Science. The 2014 state act created the university at Diamond Harbour, and the Sarisha campus became the base for a wider multidisciplinary academic structure. TNU now operates schools in agriculture and allied sciences, pharmacy, hospitality and culinary arts, legal studies, science and technology, maritime studies, health sciences, nursing, humanities, management and social sciences, together with vocational and skill development. Maritime education remains a distinctive part of the institution because the predecessor college had already built experience in marine engineering and nautical studies before university status. The university also expanded into agriculture, biotechnology, microbiology, robotics, artificial intelligence, law, pharmacy, health sciences and hospitality as its academic scope widened. Research is supported through doctoral programs, externally funded projects, publications, laboratories and institutional research structures. The campus provides teaching laboratories, library resources, hostels, sports and other student facilities in a semi-rural setting south of Kolkata. TNU emphasizes experiential learning and partnerships with industry and academic institutions so that professional study remains connected to practical requirements. As a state private university, THE NEOTIA UNIVERSITY operates within the statutory and quality frameworks applicable to higher education in West Bengal. The institution's Sarisha location also shapes the professional, cultural and community networks available to students. Academic development since 2014 has included continued work on curriculum, governance, student support and institutional partnerships. Professional programs remain subject to the approvals and standards of the relevant statutory or regulatory bodies where required.
