SRI BALAJI UNIVERSITY, PUNE Summary
Sri Balaji University, Pune (SBUP) is a state private university in Maharashtra established in 2019, with institutional roots in the Sri Balaji Society created by the late Professor Dr. (Colonel) A. Balasubramanian. The group’s higher-education journey began in 1998, followed by the establishment of management institutes that built a strong professional-education identity in Pune. Balaji Institute of Modern Management began in 1999, while additional institutes focused on telecommunications, international business, human resources and related management fields were created during the early 2000s. The society moved to its present Tathawade campus in 2006, giving the expanding group a consolidated academic base. University status in 2019 brought the constituent management institutes and newer schools under a single statutory structure. SBUP continues to be strongly associated with management education while also offering programs in computer studies, commerce, humanities and social sciences, law, liberal arts, actuarial science, sports sciences and defence studies. Its teaching model emphasizes discipline, industry exposure, internships, projects, presentations, employability and leadership development. The Tathawade location places students within the Pune metropolitan region, one of India’s major centers for IT, automotive manufacturing, education, startups and professional services. Research and innovation are supported through university-level R&D activity and entrepreneurship initiatives including the Srujan incubation ecosystem. The university uses alumni and corporate engagement to connect classroom study with current workplace expectations. The four long-running management institutes remain an important part of SBUP’s academic identity within the broader university framework. SBUP combines more than two decades of management-education experience with the wider multidisciplinary possibilities created by private-university status. SRI BALAJI UNIVERSITY, PUNE operates within Maharashtra's private higher-education system and serves learners from the Pune region as well as other parts of India. Its current statutory university structure dates from 2019, while its academic profile continues to develop through programs, facilities, research and institutional partnerships.
