As language, semester start, academic prerequisites and selection rules differ, applicants should start with the live program page. The university has application windows per program via its Study Service Center. International applicants must follow the route for their school or university qualification. Read the current deadline page. International qualifications may need a specific credential-review route and applicants for a master’s may be asked to provide module descriptions so that the responsible committee can compare previous study with the degree being applied for. Admission is not the same as enrolment: an admitted applicant still needs to complete the document, health-insurance and payment steps mentioned in the offer. Doctoral study is conducted under the guidance of faculty, graduate school or cooperative arrangements and requires an appropriate project and academic supervision.
Usually there is no tuition for regular consecutive study. Each student pays the current semester contribution shown at the time of enrolment. Continuing master’s programs are the exception: published examples are €1,752 per semester for Special Education – Education and Heterogeneity and €6,600 total for Early Help and Inclusion for the 2026/27 intake. However, course-specific exceptions are still possible, particularly for professional, continuing-education, joint or cooperative study; Students should, therefore, budget for costs in addition to the published institutional charge for housing, insurance, learning materials, travel, and any program-specific costs. The funding can be provided through BAföG if you meet the requirements, the Deutschlandstipendium, foundations, mobility grants, project employment or doctoral support. However, every funding has its own application and selection process.
The academic profile of the university is reflected in the career preparation and not a placement guarantee. Academic work is linked to regional and national organisations through practice-integrated study, laboratories, employer projects, the StudiumPraxis network, job and internship resources and the HIKE entrepreneurship incubator. Nordhausen is ideal for students looking for applied study in energy, environment, engineering, social services or public management in a compact Thuringian campus. The best candidates will compare the curriculum, language of instruction, entry requirements and location to their own academic background before applying.
