The Ingolstadt Technical University of Applied Sciences is a public technical university of applied sciences located in Ingolstadt and Neuburg a der Donau, Bavaria. THI is an international university of applied sciences with a focus on automotive engineering, mobility, AI, computer science, business, aviation, renewable energy, and sustainable infrastructure. 1994 – Establishment of the Fachhochschule Ingolstadt. Part of its development as an institution. 1995 — started offering engineering and business programs Today its academic profile is defined by automotive engineering, mobility, artificial intelligence and computer science, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering, aviation, business, sustainability and infrastructure. Ingolstadt is a major automotive and manufacturing center while the Neuburg campus enhances study in construction, sustainability, energy and infrastructure in a smaller city environment.
The course portfolio in this master file comprises 25 undergraduate entries and 22 postgraduate entries with subject combinations aggregated under their parent degrees where appropriate. Undergraduate programs include Aeronautical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Automated Driving, Automotive Engineering, Automotive Production Engineering and Business Administration amongst others. Other examples are Sustainable Civil Engineering, Vehicle Electronics and User Experience Design. The postgraduate study programs are Applied Artificial Intelligence, Automated Driving and Vehicle Safety, Automotive Engineering, Automotive Production Engineering, Business Administration, Computer Science, Mobility and Transport, Civil Engineering, Digital Transformation. Each course is still a parent qualification and specialisations are noted within the course entry and not misrepresented as separate degrees. Primary degrees combine German, English, dual, part-time and specialisation routes. Executive education remains separately fee-based.
Admission is managed at the program level. Application via the THI PRIMUSS portal, VPD check by uni-assist for many foreign qualifications, plus program-specific academic, language, aptitude or work-experience requirements. Before you submit, please check training language, entry semester, subject prerequisites, selection procedure and document route. International School or University Qualifications External evaluation, certified translations, APS documentation where applicable or other proof of academic equivalence may be required. Master’s committees may require module descriptions, portfolios, writing samples, professional experience or interviews. Admission to a PhD program is separate from admission to a Bachelor’s or Master’s program and usually requires a valid research proposal, eligible supervision, and formal acceptance by the responsible faculty.
The current student union contribution is €72 per semester. From the summer semester 2026, liable non-EU/EEA students have to pay €800 per semester for a bachelor’s degree or €1,200 per semester for a master’s degree. THI has defined exemptions and transitional regulations. These institutional charges do not cover rent, health insurance, food, learning materials, residence formalities, project costs or personal travel. If provided for by the relevant law or program regulation, special tuition may be provided for continuing-education, distance-learning, joint, second-degree, or long-term study formats. Funding (e.g. BAföG for eligible students, Deutschlandstipendium, DAAD and Erasmus+ mobility support, foundations, research employment or university-specific awards) is available, but each funding application is evaluated separately from admission.
Career preparation is a function of the subject mix of the university and not a guarantyd placement scheme. Automotive manufacturers, mobility providers, aviation companies, software and AI employers, renewable-energy companies, consultancies, banks and construction organisations are supporting large-scale projects and careers. Students may improve their professional fitness through: internships, applied projects, research assistantships, employer events, language development, entrepreneurship services, international mobility, and an externally partnered thesis.
