Fine Arts is a long-cycle academy qualification. Interior Architecture, Art Education, Architecture and Art, Fine Arts and Therapy and the cooperative doctorate are based on their own degree and examination structures.
Controlled at the program level. Admission. Applications are received once a year for winter entry. Interior Architecture usually closes on April 30 and most other artistic routes on May 15. Portfolios are reviewed prior to practical, oral or subject-specific aptitude stages. German evidence ranges from B1 to C1 depending on the course. Applicants must check the language of instruction, entry semester, subject prerequisites, selection procedure and document route before submitting their application. International School or University Qualifications External evaluation, certified translations, APS documentation where applicable or other proof of academic equivalence may be required. Master’s committees may ask for module descriptions, portfolios, writing samples, professional experience, or interviews. Entry to a doctorate is distinct from admission to a bachelors or masters degree and generally requires a viable research proposal, eligible supervision and formal acceptance by the relevant faculty.
Students taking a regular degree are ineligible for the general tuition. The semester fee for the winter semester 2026/27 published is €97. In addition, applicants should also consider the cost of the production of the portfolio and materials, workshop consumables and models, insurance, excursions and living costs in Munich. These institutional fees do not include rent, health insurance, food, learning materials, residence formalities, project costs or personal travel. Special tuition may be applied in the case of continuing-education, distance-learning, joint, second-degree or long-term study formats, if provided for by the relevant law or program regulation. Funding may include BAföG for eligible students, the Deutschlandstipendium, DAAD and Erasmus+ mobility support, foundations, research employment or university-specific awards, but each funding application is assessed independently from admission.
Career preparation includes a mix of subjects similar to that of the university, but is not a guarantyd placement scheme. Classes, workshops, exhibitions, critiques, public projects, design studios, school placements, therapeutic practice and Munich’s museums and creative industries give professional contact, but are not a guarantyd placement. Students may acquire professional readiness through internships, applied projects, research assistantships, employer events, language development, entrepreneurship services, international mobility, and an externally partnered thesis.
