The University of Delhi has added nine more colleges to its limited Class 12 marks-based undergraduate admission route for the 2026-27 academic session. Eligible students can seek admission to specified programmes without using CUET-UG scores, subject to course eligibility, vacant seats and the admission procedure announced by the concerned college.
The latest expansion was announced on August 23, 2026. With these additions, the number of DU colleges offering selected undergraduate programmes through the Class 12 merit route has increased to 35. This is an exceptional arrangement for filling vacant seats and does not replace DU’s regular CUET-based admission process.
Students who already hold admission in any college of the University of Delhi are not eligible to apply through this Class 12 marks-based route. Applicants should check the latest notice issued by the relevant college for the application deadline, programme-wise eligibility, documents, vacant seats and reporting requirements.

DU Class 12 Marks-Based Admission 2026: What Has Been Announced?
DU has permitted additional colleges to fill selected vacant undergraduate seats using the marks obtained in the Class 12 or equivalent qualifying examination. The admission decision will be taken on the basis of Class 12 merit rather than CUET-UG scores for the programmes named in the relevant college notices.
The move follows multiple rounds of the Common Seat Allocation System for regular UG admissions. Seats that remained vacant in certain programmes, particularly in some language, combination and science courses, are being offered through this limited alternative process.
Students should understand that this is not a return to the earlier system in which all DU undergraduate admissions were based on board examination marks. For the 2026-27 cycle, DU’s normal UG admission framework remains based on CUET-UG scores and CSAS allocation. The Class 12 marks-based option applies only to the colleges, programmes and vacancies specifically notified by the university and the concerned colleges.

The programme list should be treated as college-specific. A programme may be available only if seats remain vacant and the applicant fulfils all academic and subject requirements prescribed by the college.
Which Students Can Apply?
The route is mainly relevant to students who have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination and have not secured admission to any DU college. Candidates must satisfy the minimum and programme-specific eligibility conditions applicable to the course they want to join.
Students should carefully verify the following before submitting an application:
- Whether the concerned programme is included in the college’s current vacancy list.
- Whether the candidate has passed Class 12 from a recognised board.
- Whether the required subjects were studied in Class 12.
- Whether the candidate meets the minimum percentage or subject-wise conditions prescribed by the programme.
- Whether the candidate belongs to a category for which valid supporting documents are available.
- Whether the candidate has already taken admission in another DU college.
Who Is Not Eligible Through This Route?
A candidate who has already secured admission in any college of the University of Delhi cannot seek another admission through the Class 12 marks-based process. This restriction is intended to prevent students from holding one DU seat while applying for another seat through the special vacant-seat route.
Students admitted through other DU categories or admission rounds should not cancel an existing seat merely on the assumption that a new college or programme will be allotted. The concerned college must first confirm eligibility, merit position, document acceptance and admission availability.
