Special NEET UG Round to Address About 946 Vacant MBBS Seats
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has scheduled a special stray vacancy round for NEET UG 2026 to fill vacant MBBS seats. The round is part of MCC’s UG counselling process. Its published schedule sets November 4 as the registration deadline, so eligible candidates should check the official portal promptly.
The figure of about 946 MBBS vacancies is an approximate count. MCC publishes the seat matrix and may update it; candidates should use the latest matrix to confirm which colleges, quotas and categories have seats before filling choices. What Candidates Should Do
First, read the latest MCC notice and confirm that you meet the participation rules for this round. Sign in through the MCC counselling portal, complete registration and payment before the stated cut-offs, then review the current seat matrix. Check each college’s location, course, quota and category, and verify fees and reporting requirements directly with the institution before adding it to your preferences.
Fill choices in the order you genuinely prefer and lock them within the window. Save the confirmation page or record of locked choices. After the result is published, check the allotment on the MCC portal and follow the reporting instructions for the allotted college by the deadline. Keep your NEET and identity records, counselling registration details, academic certificates and category or PwD documents ready where applicable; confirm the precise document list in the official notice and with the college.
Deadlines and vacancy counts can change if MCC issues a revised schedule or adds or withdraws seats. Check the official MCC pages again before submitting choices, making payment or travelling to report. The special round schedule also lists a separate later counselling round for BDS and B.Sc Nursing seats, so candidates seeking those courses should follow the relevant dates in that schedule.
