MIT Art, Design and Technology University is a state private university at Vishwaraj Baug, Loni Kalbhor, Pune. It was established under the MIT Art, Design and Technology University Act, 2015 and began university operations from the 2016-17 academic year. The institution is sponsored by the Maharashtra Academy of Engineering and Educational Research, whose education legacy began in the early 1980s under Prof. Vishwanath D. Karad. The university's name reflects its central academic idea: combining art, design and technology instead of treating them as separate worlds. Its schools span engineering, architecture, design, fine and applied arts, management, marine engineering, biosciences, food technology, film and television, broadcasting and journalism, music, drama, humanities, education and holistic studies. This breadth supports interdisciplinary projects and creative-technology collaboration. The campus itself has a distinctive history. The group acquired the former Raj Kapoor property in 2001 and later developed the Vishwaraj Baug university environment on the banks of the Mula-Mutha river. Maharashtra published the university act in 2015, and UGC recognition followed in November 2016. MIT-ADT has since expanded research, incubation, creative education and multidisciplinary teaching while retaining the wider MIT Group's engineering and value-based-education legacy.
