RAJIV GANDHI UNIVERSITY OF KNOWLEDGE TECHNOLOGIES, BASAR Summary
Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies, Basar is a public residential technical university in Telangana created to provide intensive higher education to meritorious students, particularly from rural communities. The Basar campus originated in 2008 as one of the three institutes of the then united Andhra Pradesh RGUKT system. It was founded under the same state legislation that created campuses at Nuzvid and RK Valley and admitted students directly after Class 10 into a distinctive six-year integrated course. That structure combines a two-year Pre-University Course with four years of engineering education, enabling students to move through a continuous residential academic pathway. Following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, Basar became the RGUKT institution serving Telangana and developed a separate state-university identity. The campus is located at Basara in Nirmal district and extends across a large residential site where teaching blocks, laboratories, hostels, student facilities and technology infrastructure are integrated. Academic departments support engineering and foundational disciplines, while project work, computing, innovation, student clubs and career preparation broaden the learning environment. The university’s central mission remains strongly connected to educational access for talented rural youth who might otherwise have fewer pathways into high-quality technical education. Its residential model also supports sustained mentoring and peer learning across the long integrated program. After state bifurcation, Basar became the only RGUKT campus in Telangana, making it a distinct part of the state’s public technical-education system. The university is recognized under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act. Engineering education is supported by foundational science, humanities, computing and multidisciplinary student-development activity. The institution continues to develop this role through public higher education, academic administration and student services. Its regional responsibilities remain closely connected with access, quality assurance, research and long-term institutional development. These functions together shape the university’s contemporary academic identity and public-service mission.
