Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) is an autonomous super-specialty medical teaching institution established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in Lucknow. Located at Vibhuti Khand, Gomti Nagar, the institute was developed to provide advanced tertiary healthcare while building medical teaching and research capacity within the public sector. A state-government decision in September 2004 initiated the major development process, and RMLIMS was formally registered as an independent super-specialty medical institute on 4 November 2006. Its growth combined hospital services with academic departments, diagnostic facilities, cancer care, surgical specialties, laboratory medicine and medical education. The institute progressively introduced advanced technologies and patient-support services and later developed into a full medical teaching institution with undergraduate, postgraduate and super-specialty education. Photodynamic therapy was introduced for specialized cancer treatment. Round-the-clock emergency pathology services form part of the hospital system. Undergraduate medical education is integrated with postgraduate and super-specialty training. Clinical teaching is supported by high-volume diagnostic, medical, surgical and oncology services.
