Bucerius Law School is a private law university in Hamburg, Hamburg. Bucerius Law School is Germany’s first private law school and nonprofit institution founded by the ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius to combine intensive German legal education, international experience, interdisciplinary business study and independent legal research. 2000 The ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius founds the Bucerius Law School. Its institutional development It was the first private financed law school in Germany. Today, the academic profile of the Faculty is formed by subjects such as German law, European law, international law, commercial law, corporate law, legal technology, legal methodology, economics, business, dispute resolution, comparative law and doctoral legal research. The location The compact Jungiusstraße campus is located in the center of Hamburg, next to courts, law firms, companies, publishers, public institutions, port-related businesses, cultural organisations and an international commercial legal market, and adjacent to Planten un Blomen.

Admission is through the program level. Law degree applicants are chosen in a competitive process with written and oral exams, not just school marks. Bucerius is privately funded and charges tuition fees for the integrated law program under the current study contract, with scholarships and an income-linked reverse-generation contract available. The one-year Master of Law and Business costs € 25,000 and includes the stated materials, study trips and the Hamburg transport ticket. €500 for the doctorate admission and examination fees and public student charges. These institutional fees do not cover the cost of rent, health insurance, food, learning materials, residence formalities, project costs and personal travel. Special tuition may be applied in the case of continuing-education, distance-learning, joint, second-degree or long-term study formats, if provided for by the relevant law or program regulation. Funding may include BAföG for eligible students, the Deutschlandstipendium, DAAD and Erasmus+ mobility support, foundations, research employment or university-specific awards, but each funding application is assessed independently from admission.
