AMITY UNIVERSITY Summary
Amity University Bengaluru is a private university located near Devanahalli in Bengaluru Rural district, Karnataka. The legal basis for the institution is the Amity University Act, 2018, while the Government of Karnataka brought the university into effect from 1 September 2023 after inspection of the campus and completion of statutory requirements. A University Grants Commission communication subsequently recorded the university in the UGC-maintained list under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act. The university is sponsored by the Ritnand Balved Education Foundation and forms part of the wider Amity Education Group. Its Bengaluru campus is positioned near Kempegowda International Airport and is designed as a large, modern university environment. Academic activity spans engineering and technology, management, computer science, commerce, psychology, sciences, design and other professional disciplines, with undergraduate and postgraduate programs forming the core of current offerings. Amity Bengaluru emphasizes technology-enabled learning, industry exposure, research, innovation and international opportunities. The university draws on Amity’s broader network of campuses and academic partnerships, allowing students access to study-abroad, transfer and global exposure programs. Laboratories, digital systems, campus learning spaces and residential infrastructure support the multidisciplinary model. The institution’s history has two distinct legal stages. The Karnataka Legislature enacted the university law in 2018, but the university became operational only after the state government notification in September 2023. This distinction is important because the source dataset records 2023 as the effective establishment year. The campus was inspected by a state committee in August 2023 before operational approval. As a new university, Amity Bengaluru is still developing its own research record, alumni base and institution-specific traditions. Its present identity combines the systems and experience of the larger Amity network with a newly established Bengaluru campus serving one of India’s leading technology and innovation regions. The campus therefore enters Bengaluru’s higher-education market with a network-backed but locally developing institutional model.
